Reverse Engineering a Mazda 1300 Grill
Our client was building a show car, which he wanted to feature a Mazda 1300 grill. However, these grills are very rare, and he was unable to locate one to purchase. Fortunately, he already had a Mazda 1300 grill from another vehicle that he had restored previously, so he brought this one into Absolute3D’s Melbourne studio.

To make this American classic look like a true right-hand-drive, the parts had to be scanned, mirrored and 3D printed. First we scanned all the parts using a Creaform GoScan 20 scanner. Then the raw scan data was imported into Geomagic Design X and converted from polygon format to a NURBS-format CAD model so the text could be modified using SolidWorks.
